Tics

&

Tourette's

Many children, teens, and adults experience tics-sudden repetitive movements or sounds.

Tourette’s disorder often co-occurs with anxiety or OCD. I provide Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), a research supported therapy. While CBIT it is not a cure, it provides tools that helps clients gain awareness and develop strategies to manage tics.

Tics are involuntary movements or sounds that occur repeatedly. They can range from simple actions like blinking or throat clearing to more complex sequences of movements or vocalizations. While common, not everyone “grows out” of tics. Some people can experience tics throughout their life. Tics can increase with stress or excitement, and often fluctuate over time. Understanding tics is the first step towards managing them effectively.

What are tics?

How CBIT can help

Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) is an evidence-based therapy for tic disorders.

CBIT teaches clients to:

❋ Recognize the early warning signs of tics

❋ Learn strategies to redirect or manage tics in daily life

❋ Reduce tic severity and improve overall confidence

Support for Families

Living with tics can be stressful for both clients and families. I provide guidance and tools to help families support their loved one. This includes learning about tics, identifying triggers, and reinforcing skills learned in therapy. Together, we create a supportive environment that fosters growth, self-esteem, and coping skills to manage tics.

Next Steps

If you or your child are experiencing tics or Tourette’s, scheduling a consultation is the first step. Together we can develop a personalized plan using CBIT to help manage tics and improve daily life.
